Santa’s Escape

I entered the Second Spaces Santa’s Escape Design Contest last week.  We were to fill a shadowbox with the place that Santa would escape to after Christmas.  The story of my entry was, Santa has a green thumb, and when Christmas is over, he says he’d rather be gardening.

I didn’t win, but it was fun. I got an IM from someone the evening of the contest saying, “Ha ha you have too many prims.” I answered, “Okay, that’s certainly possible.  Why do you think that’s funny?”  This morning she replied, “That means you couldn’t win, and you didn’t, did you?”  I checked the profile of the person who sent it, and she wasn’t a native English speaker, so maybe she didn’t understand how rude that was, that you don’t laugh at someone else’s misfortune.  I honestly don’t understand people who do things like that.  Why say anything at all?

It’s certainly possible that I went over the prim limit. I had written everything down and added them up, but it was tedious, and I was close, and I probably missed something. It would be great if, when people have these kinds of contests, they could supply a prim counter, like my home does. I tried to find a portable one somewhere so I could check, but I couldn’t find one.

Speaking of which — I was looking at rental property, and ran across a place where the landlord said, “Don’t go over your prim limit.  If you go over, the first 24 hours you’ll be charged $50L, and after that, $L100 per prim each day that you’re over limit.”  Nice, huh?  So understanding.

Photo Essay

I was feeling a little melancholy last night, and when I TP’ed into the Drowsy sim, I thought it suited my mood perfectly.

I played in the playground, swung on the swings and face-planted at the end of the slide.

There’s something spooky about a playground in the dark.

I was set upon by wolves.

I laid on my back on a log raft and looked up at the stars.

I went high up in a tower and looked down over the village.

I looked in stores and played on the displays.

I found a sweet rabbit who kept me company.

Those pesky wolves again.

At the end of the night I changed into my souvenir t-shirt and read for a little while.

Comparison

I read the blog posts about a shop looking for new models and requiring them to alter their shapes. I think that’s fine, different brands probably look better on certain body types, I don’t have a problem with that at all. But I was intrigued to see the shape numbers, and wondered how I would look if I modded my shape to the model ideal.

Look of the Day: Purple!

Last night I visited Miss Muffet, a shop that I hadn’t visited before. They had some very cute clothes, and I bought a couple of things–a pair of pajamas and one dress, I think–and there was a Midnight Mania board with a cute outfit on it. I signed up, and then this morning when I checked my mail, there was an email from “Midnight Mania” that said it had an attachment, and I knew that was what it must be.

So I signed in immediately, and of course, my IMs were capped. I clicked through them with trepidation, and sure enough, there was nothing there. I was SO disappointed. I thought, well, I can try again, so I TPed over to the shop again and signed up on the board again. Then I noticed that next to the board was another board that said something like, if you didn’t get your item delivery, click here to redeliver. And it worked!

I don’t participate in a lot of Midnight Mania things, because it sort of seems like a recipe for disappointment; the only other one that I remember stalking was the one at SWIM; I really wanted those kitty camisoles! I had to try three times, I think, but I finally got them.

Anyway, I was so happy that I got my Miss Muffet outfit that I bought a couple more things there. I’ll show them another day–today is the Subscribo joining gift, the Ochaye outfit. The pattern in the skirt is very subtle, you have to look closely, but it’s actually a purple tartan. Very cute. I mixed it up with some Kurotsubaki socks, a tank top from Dutch Touch, and my ever-present Kool Kicks, this time in two different shades of purple.
